Strider Balance Running Bike Description

What does it take to learn to ride a bike? The Strider Sports Running Bike teaches children basic skills necessary for fearless riding. With no pedals and a short height, children balance, run to pick up momentum, and then coast, all the while gaining confidence, stability, and muscle development. The mountain-bike styling and superior quality of the Running Bike from Strider Sports gives children a lifetime love of bike-riding.

WHY CHILDREN AND PARENTS LOVE IT

Designed pedal free, the Strider Sports Running Bike allows children to focus on balancing and steering by using their feet in a running motion. As they propel forward, kids rapidly discover mobility for themselves and progress earlier than children who start on a tricycle, or go from a tricycle to a two-wheeler with training wheels.

Eliminating the chains, cables, sprockets, and pedals of traditional training bikes, such as tricycles, makes for a safer ride by preventing scrapes, bumps, and falls. Children feel secure because the low center of gravity provides superior balance and allows their feet to touch the ground.

Strider Sports designed their Running Bike with kids in mind. Plastic wheels with EVA polymer tires reduce the weight of the bike, making it easier for little ones to propel themselves forward.

Utilizing a plastic headset instead of steel ball bearings (the bearing set that allows the bike to steer) reduces weight for easier pushing by kids and eliminates grease, perfect for stain-free indoor use. The headset’s initial stiffness helps new riders feel secure. As riders increase in skill, the headset loosens for tight and thrilling turns.

Children love run bikes because keeping up with mom and dad is a snap. Balance bikes put children in control, and give your child a growing sense of independence. The all-terrain capabilities of the Strider Running Bike encourage children to explore off the beaten path.

Parents love run bikes because they are easy to transport and low maintenance. Confidence, independence, coordination, motor skills, balance, and strength: Strider Running Bikes promote each of these.

My son received a regular pedal bike for his 2nd birthday. He did fine with it – learned how to pedal and brake – but the difference really came after he started “borrowing” his little sister’s strider (they are 16 months apart) that she got for her 2nd birthday. Within a few hours he had figured out how to balance and he increased his distance and duration. After one hour without training wheels, he can now ride his bike. He can even start himself because he runs with his bike – a strider acquired skill! I HIGHLY recommend this product! I never had any of the quality control issues some of the other poster’s had, I found the bike to be of sound quality. I would recommend you adjust the seat height frequently – both my kids did/do a better job on the bike when they are sitting on the seat and their toes (not their whole foot) touch the ground. They definitely learn the balance concept faster.

My 2 year old boy loves the bike…I think the quality could be a bit more due to the $100.00 price tag. The wheel bearings are plastic which wont last and the Handle bars are hard to steer or fall if you loosen them. Over all the bike does serve the purpose of my boy learning to balance,

My daughter is almost 4 and got her Strider run bike about 2.5 months ago. She loves it! We do have the extra tall seat post which gives her plenty of growing room. I think if your child is much older than 3 you should get the extra tall seat post in addition – gives you at least 3 more inches of seat height I would say. To those who worry the bike will be too small just check out the Strider website and you will see their 5 year old having fun on his Strider! My almost 4 year old was coasting down small hills with her feet up after about 4 weeks. She can’t get enough of her bike! This really is one of the best ‘toys’ we have ever bought.

The bike is bit smaller than I thought it would be. My son is a tall 3 year old 41″ and will most likely be way to tall by his 4th birthday April 3. Overall it is a very nice bike to train with. However due to the size would not recommend.

We probably wouldn’t have our son on a bike yet without the Strider. It seemed like such an obvious solution to teaching kids to ride a bike. We were amazed that after just a couple of tries on the Strider, Thomas was picking up his feet and balancing for short periods of time. He will be riding bikes with the rest of the family in no time! He won’t be the “baby” riding in the bike trailer behind his Dad’s bike-he’ll be an active participant, not a passive one. He loves having his own two-wheeler; he feels like a big boy on his Strider!
